When Danielle and I first spoke about her wedding plans she told me all about how much she loved the Glen Sanders Mansion and it’s waterfront location for her ceremony. The theme for the day was based around her love for succulents and a dusty color palette. Spending the entire day with these two was such a blast (even at 9 months pregnant)!! Shoutout to good friend and fellow photographer Hannah, for being such a great second shooter, hanging out with the guys and assisting me all day. 🥰

Their Story.

Danielle and Bob first met while working together at a restaurant. Being from out of town and attending nursing school, Danielle was working two jobs just trying to make ends meet. She wasn’t searching for a relationship. Quite honestly she really had no interest in even dating. But Bob tried hard to win her over. And he won.

After graduating nursing school, Danielle began working the night shift at an Upstate, New York hospital. As you can imagine, night shifts are hard. You’re extra tired. Your sleep schedule is all messed up. And many times you miss out on all the fun events taking place. But that never stopped the fun escapes that Danielle and Bob have together. They love attending concerts and live events. Phish, a band they absolutely love, they’ve seen multiple times and they even played a part in Bob’s proposal. Although it wasn’t a live event, Bob did the best he could bringing Phish to Danielle.

It was December 2019 – Danielle worked her normal night shift and woke up to Bob bringing her coffee in bed. That wasn’t all though! He even put together a video of pictures that played to a Phish song, proposing right there. Okay, this right here is straight perfection! Danielle told me that she NO idea what was happening and she had no idea that Bob was even thinking about proposing.

The Wedding Day.

It was Memorial Day weekend, gray skies and rainy. The usual May weather in Upstate, New York. But to be completely honest, the day turned into perfection at the Glen Sanders Mansion. Family and friends were finally gathered for a kick-ass party to celebrate Danielle and Bob. Believe me when I say this group knew how to have a good time!

While I hung out upstairs with Danielle and the girlys, my second shooter, Hannah hung out with the guys in the ‘man cave’ downstairs. This is where I rave about having a second photographer on your wedding day … it’s so awesome looking back at the day in a whole from different perspectives.

Getting Ready.

The morning was pretty typical when it came to the girls getting ready – hair and makeup started super early, the getting ready space was filled with emotion and the girls drank their mimosas. What made it different was the overall vibe. It was super chill and very relaxed! And I gotta admit, the getting ready space at Glen Sanders is freakin’ AMAZING! The guys even spent their morning playing video games and listening to a Phish concert on the TV.

Before their first look, Danielle and Bob wrote little notes to each other. Which pulled at my heart strings something fierce! After the rain tapered off, the guys went out to grab some photos while the girls were finishing up. They drank beers, laughed, and just had a good time together. When hair and makeup was finished, the girls relaxed a little bit, enjoying themselves. They even spied on the guys, trying to remain hidden. With the help from her mom and sister, Danielle slipped into the beautiful dress she’d gotten from Paisley Bridal in Queens, NY. Then surprised her girls with a little first look before we headed outside.

First Look.

After we finished up bridal party photos, it was time to get Bob ready for his moment with Danielle. Tucked away from arriving guests, Danielle walked up from behind, rubbing her hand on the back of his head before he turned around to see her for the first time. This moment right here was the moment I teared up. It might’ve been the pregnancy hormones talking, but I definitely had to turn away for a sec. to wipe my tears. It was so sweet watching their anxiety just disappear, like it was only them in that moment. We savored this energy and finished up their portraits. One of my favorite family images is of Bob with his twin girls. They were so much fun together!

The Ceremony.

Tucked behind Glen Sanders Mansion is the perfect ceremony location right on the water. Along with family and friends, you may end up with a few wedding crashers – a family of geese. No worries here though because they won’t harm a thing. 😊

Danielle walked down the stairs and brick walkway with her father by her side as guests and Bob looked on. Yet another moment where I teared up. They said their vows, exchanged rings, and shared their first kiss. This ceremony was honestly so sweet and straight to the point. Which is what they wanted.

Time to Party.

This is where the real party began! Not only does Glen Sanders Mansion have a beautiful ballroom, but Mazzone Hospitality definitely knows how to transform the space and put together a delicious meal! They take care of their couples which is super important.

The tables had arrangements of greenery, floating candles and small potted succulents. For favors, there were keys that not were so cute but converted as a bottle opener too! Now the cake, holy cow was it beautiful. And it was delicious too. And at the end of the night, there was a dessert bar with SO many goodies. This is where I ended up at one point.

Let’s talk about this first dance though. There was so much emotion that just made my heart melt into pieces. Love was written all over their faces. And when it came time for the maid of honor and best man speeches, the words about Danielle and Bob and their love for each other left pretty much everyone with wet eyes.

Dinner began with a grand sparkler entrance. Yes. A sparkler entrance for dinner! It was pretty freakin’ awesome to be completely honest. Afterwards, it was parent dances that led to an open dance floor which stayed packed the entire night. When I said this group knew how to have a good time, I meant it! From the cake cutting, to the traditional bouquet and garter toss, there was so much fun happening.
