There’s just something about this Hudson Valley summer engagement session that screamed powerhouse. Maybe it was the thunderstorm coming in. Or maybe it was this amazing couple.

They say good things take time. And there’s no doubt that this relationship took a little time. Tracking back to the good ole’ college days, Katie and Chandler first started talking after meeting each other at a mutual friends house gathering.

It was then, that Katie knew she had to come up with a way to talk to him again. She was enrolled in a college physics class and needing a tutor to help out in the worst way. After a few back and forth moments, Katie finally worked up the courage to ask Chandler for a little help – this was her way of seeing and talking to him. And personally, I call this a freakin’ genius idea!

A few tutoring sessions led to officially dating. Which then led to a proposal in 2019 while visiting a few friends in Nashville. With so much happening in life, they knew they wanted to wait until 2022 before hosting an all weekend wedding in Massachusetts.

The Engagement Session

Going into an engagement session, I always recommend picking a spot that has some type of meaning to you and your relationship. With Katie + Chandler living in Louisiana at the time, and traveling back to the Berkshire’s for a little family visit, we had a few options. Deciding to pick this location in the Hudson Valley was a no brainer. Although it didn’t have any specific tie to their relationship, it was still a little adventure. Which is a huge part of their everyday lives.

We started with a little hike to this beautiful overlook and ended with another hike down to a waterfall. It was just perfect! And I’m so glad that the three of us were able to visit this spot. The only thing missing – their pup, Buddy and a beautiful, glowing sunset. And if you’re wondering … we beat that thunderstorm and had a great time doing it!

If you’re thinking about doing a Hudson Valley summer engagement session – doooo it! I can promise that you won’t regret it!
