This tented, New Hampshire wedding takes the cake for most laid-back, fun filled party of 202. Every couple has a different vision when it comes to their wedding day. For Heather and Dana it was to have a gathering centered around their family and friends. And to show off their love for adventure. Because let’s be real – these two freakin’ LOVE to travel and adventure together! 🏔

The Wedding Day.

Heather always had a feeling that she’d have a tented wedding in New Hampshire when the time was right. And when wedding planning started to happen, Dana was totally on board with the idea. This is where Heather grew up, spending many summers out on this lake. It was so perfect! Her parents recently built a house overlooking the lake and there was plenty of room for a ceremony on the water with a tented reception right after.

Getting Ready.

Heather and her girls spent time getting ready on the main level. relaxing and just hanging out. It was so sweet to watch Heather getting her hair and make up done in her parents bedroom. As well as slipping into her dress with the help from her younger sister (maid-of-honor). As their mother stood near by, they shared so many laughs together and even a few tears.

Dana and his groomsmen hung out downstairs in the basement, spending the afternoon laughing and telling stories from their college days. There was one story that stuck out to me, it involved shooting off fireworks. I’ll leave it at that, because the rest of the story is probably illegal to mention. As a gift, Dana had personally engraved flasks made that he gave as a ‘thank you’.

First Look.

When I arrived that afternoon and saw the beautiful area and the lake, I instantly knew where the first look was happening. But to make sure, I asked both Heather and Dana if they had any particular location in mind. One that meant something to them. It was so awesome to hear them both say the exact spot I was thinking of. An open area right on the banks of the water.

As Dana stood, taking in the moment, there was a strong sense of peace. I can’t really describe the feeling, but it was very relaxing. Heather, with the biggest smile on her face, never once took her eyes off him as she walked his way. I just stood back, letting the moment unfold and giving them this time together. You could hear the birds chirping and feel the slight breeze blowing off the lake, the sun was shinning and clouds started to roll in for a quick, much needed rain shower. Literally, the most perfect August day.

The Ceremony.

Have to admit, this ceremony was freakin’ EPIC! For starters, the guys jumped into the bed of a truck, driven by another groomsmen and headed over to a nearby house to hang out. When it was go time, they shot off a firework and arrived to the ceremony on Heathers’ families pontoon boat. All the guests laughed and cheered as Dana walked up with Bruce (the adventure pup). Heather, walking alongside her father, gave him the biggest hug before taking Dana’s hand.

The ceremony done by a family member was short and sweet. They read vows they wrote to each other and shared stories about some of their adventures together. They exchanged rings that they custom made. Now when I say custom made, I mean they actually hand made these rings with blood, sweat and tears. The family dog, Bo, even paid a nice visit running down the aisle at one point. Which hey, it gave everyone a good laugh!

As the sun was setting, Heather, Dana and I snuck away for a little time together. They canoed around the lake, sitting back and watching the party from a different view. It was so awesome seeing guests cheering them on and singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ together. Afterwards, we relaxed and let the rest of the night unfold naturally.

Time to Party!

Did someone say PARTY?! And keg stands? And shot skis? Because this reception was ALLLL that and then some!

The little details were all put together by Heather, her bridesmaids and a few family members. Each table was named after National Parks that they’ve visited together along with a photo. There was an Oyster Raw Bar during the cocktail hour and a toco buffet for dinner. The cake was made by Dana’s sister (which ended up smashed in her face). And Dana was thrown into the lake by his groomsmen. The dance floor was packed the entire night. And there wasn’t a single person sitting around board.

If you’re ever considering a tented New Hampshire wedding – do it! Seriously, your wedding day should be everything you want it to be. No limits!
