When Shianne and Tony began wedding planning, they instantly knew they wanted a winter wedding. And they knew they wanted their day to be cozy, without feeling stuffy or over the top. On their list of venues to tour was The Sinclair. Falling in love right away, they knew they needed to have their winter wedding at the Sinclair of Skaneateles. Shianne said they picked the Sinclair for its location, its rich history, the intimacy she felt and the industrial vibes. And I still remember her saying, ‘I wish it would snow on our wedding day.’
Shianne and Tony’s wedding day was nothing but magical and the wish for snow came true. Just 24 hours before their ceremony, a snow storm came through the area and left lingering flurries throughout the entire day. Talk about magical! One thing that really stuck out to me was how close all of their family and friends were. The entire weekend we spent together, I felt like I was apart of the family. Never once feeling like an outsider with fancy cameras. And I’ll admit – their pup, Kodak, who they included as much as they could was the sweetest boy.
Planning a winter wedding at The Sinclair of Skaneateles –
Located roughly 2mi from the Village of Skaneateles, the Sinclair was originally built as an old, historical chair factory in 1871. Today, this venue gives you the option for all weekend access with a full rental Friday – Sunday. Or an option for a venue rental during a weekday, on Sunday or during the off-season (January – March). The Sinclair offers day-of-coordinating and can easily accommodation up to 200 guests, with multiple options for your wedding ceremony. I’ll touch more on that below. The morning of your wedding, you’ll have access to a private and spacious bridal suite located on the third floor where you can get ready and relax.
There are so many beautiful architectural details at the Sinclair. There’s exposed brick, large windows, a gorgeous staircase and an overall timeless backdrop that can really fit any wedding style. And if you’re a fan of old school architecture and industrial design, then you should definitely check out the Sinclair of Skaneateles!
Fun fact – the chairs used here were originally made in the old chair factory. How awesome is that!?
Ceremony locations + Reception area –
With the Sinclair being available year round, you’re able to host your wedding during any of the four seasons. Of course your ceremony location is going to depend on which season you choose. For the Spring, Summer and Fall months there’s the option for a beautiful garden ceremony positioned right near the Skaneateles Creek. And for the Winter months, you can have your ceremony indoors in the main ballroom with the large fireplace as your backdrop. Or if you’re planning for a more intimate ceremony with less than 75 guests, host your ceremony on the second level (which is where Shianne and Tony exchanged their vows). And if the weather decides to take a turn, you’ll be covered with a indoors backup plan! When it’s time to party, enjoy yourself and dance the night away under the lights in the main area.
Catering –
The Sinclair exclusively works with a local restaurant – Rosalies Cucina, to provide authentic Italian catering for all of their special events. And believe me when I say – this food is delicious! All your needs are being met, wither its a formal sit down dinner or a buffet line.
Kelly and the entire staff at the Sinclair of Skaneateles was incredible to work with. The food was 10/10 delicious! And you NEED to check out the beautiful floral and styling that Beck & Forth Co. put together not only for the ceremony, but the entire space. The Sinclair of Skaneateles is such a beautiful location for a winter wedding (or any season). ❤️
Places to Stay –
Although there isn’t an onsite place to stay, The Sinclair at Skaneateles is now offering an Airbnb perfect for getting ready and lounging with your family and closest friends. The Hive Inn – Located .3 mi from the Sinclair, with two newly renovated homes on the property, sleeps 14+ and offers everything you’ll need for your stay.
Less than 5 minutes from the Sinclair is another great AirBnb option. This is where Shianne and Tony stayed and where Tony spent his time hanging out and getting ready.
Skaneateles offers so many beautiful inns and bed-and-breakfasts for your guests to stay.
The Sherwood Inn – known as the “Eastern Gateway to the Finger Lakes” is located right in the heart of Skaneateles on the water and is less than 3 mi from the Sinclair.
Hilton Garden Inn Auburn – is a great option if you’re looking for room blocks. Located less than 20mins from the Sinclair.

We are SO not the stand around and pose types. On the day of our wedding, she went between the boys getting ready house and the venue, capturing everyone’s moments with friends and family – she was everywhere, but was honestly barely noticeable (in a good way!). Working with Cheyenne made photography something I didn’t even think about on our wedding day. And after the wedding was over Cheyenne was super communicative about when we would see the photos.
